I thought I had posted this yesterday and to my absolute horror, it didn’t post so you are getting two today.
I don’t know much about The Stooges. I don’t know much about hallucinogens. I do know that a lot of the Stooges’ fans enjoy hallucinogens and I think that’s fun for them.
I did really love the song, 1969 because it felt like everything rock & roll should be but then the rest of the songs left me unimpressed and were unmemorable.
But I am practicing compassionate listening and there was a song called Ann and I have a friend named Anne (@linelaundering) who is also listening to all 500 albums.
Perhaps she likes this song. So that’s something I’ve thought about.
Or maybe The Stooges saw her in a dream and wrote this song about her forty-something years earlier and they got the spelling of her name wrong because this was before the Canadian Anne of Green Gables came out and normalized that extra E for all of us. (Thank you, Megan Follows for being the only Anne of Avonlea I will ever get emotionally invested in).
So maybe The Stooges collectively love those movies. The books were definitely around before their time of glory so they PERHAPS could have been fans of the originals!
I guess what I am getting from this album is that I really enjoy imagining all four members of The Stooges reading the Anne of Green Gables series and having strong opinions about Gilbert Blythe.
Thank you.
Top Songs: Ann (obviously) and 1969 bc it is very, very perfect rock and roll
